A Message from our Grand Matron

Welcome

Sunset Loyal Grand Chapter Order of the Eastern Star of Texas is an order to which both men and women belong. Our teachings are based on the Bible; however, the Order of the Eastern Star is not a religion and is neither secret nor political. Our symbol is the Star of Bethlehem with the five-pointed star as our accepted emblem. Our lessons of brotherly love, relief and truth are portrayed through biblical heroines in our ceremonies.  The Order of the Eastern Star takes good people and makes them even better by teaching lesson using a system of allegory and symbolism.

Sunset Loyal Grand Chapter is Masonic-related fraternal organization dedicated to charity, truth, and loving kindness. . The degrees of the Order of the Eastern Star teach lessons of fidelity, constancy, loyalty, faith and love. These degrees are presented in a beautiful ritualistic ceremony designed to not only teach the lessons, but also to provide insight for future study and understanding. The organization was founded in the mid to late 1800s by our founder, Dr. Rob Morris, for the expressed purpose of offering support and affiliation to the wives, mothers, daughters, grandchildren, etc. of Free Masons. The organization is open to both male and female.

OES

The Order of the Eastern Star is open to people of all faiths, but not to atheists. A belief in a supreme being is required. Although religious in nature, OES is not a religion and does not advertise itself as a substitute for religion. The degrees of OES focus on five women in the Bible: Adah, Ruth, Esther, Martha and Electa. Each one represents a principle of the order: fidelity, constancy, loyalty, faith and love. OES’ symbol is the Star of Bethlehem, and the five-pointed star is the OES emblem.
